2020 10-K/Earnings Release Announcements

Changes in segment reporting
On our third quarter 2020 earnings call, we announced that beginning with our fourth quarter 2020 results we will break out Google Cloud as a separate reporting segment.

We will now have three reported segments: Google Services, Google Cloud and Other Bets. For each segment, we will report revenues and operating income (loss). Our reporting of disaggregated revenues will remain unchanged from prior quarters.

  • Google Services includes products and services such as ads, Android, Chrome, hardware, Google Maps, Google Play, Search, and YouTube.
  • Google Cloud includes our infrastructure and data analytics platforms, collaboration tools, and other services for enterprise customers.
  • Other Bets remains unchanged from its historical presentation.

Additionally, we have certain unallocated corporate costs, which primarily include corporate initiatives, corporate shared costs, such as finance and legal, including fines and settlements, as well as costs associated with certain shared research and development activities. Hedging gains (losses) related to revenue are included in corporate costs.

In addition to the current period, we will also provide revenues and operating income (loss) for each segment for the fourth quarter of 2019, all quarters of 2020 and full years 2018, 2019, and 2020 in our upcoming earnings release.

You can expect the presentation of segment results for each period included in our upcoming earnings release as follows:
